Lesotho ‘coup’: a squabble among elites or a sign of social instability?

Below is a link to an interesting article on the recent Lesotho ‘coup’ by David Smith of The Guardian. It addresses the question of whether the ‘coup’ was a result of political manoeuvring or social instability. Could the answers to such a question be inferred to other African states not necessarily in the throws of an attempted coup but whose political and social stability are uncertain?
