what Africa needs is a developmental state, not conditionalities

Ms Samia Nkrumah national chairperson of the Convention people’s Party recently called on Ghanaian negotiators to reject a deal with the IMF to bail out the embattled African country. Ms Nkrumah argues that IMF programmes in Ghana such as    Structural Adjustment Programmes (SAP), Economic Recovery Programmes (ERP), PAMSCAD, HIPC, as well as Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) were all IMF programmes that did not achieve much for the country. what is needed according to Ms Nkrumah is an independent African philosophy called Nkrumaism that emphasizes independence and a break in the vicious cycle of past. http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=322927
